The Estonian Ministry of Finance has started thinking about how to change the laws so that transactions with virtual currencies become clearer.
The new law is designed to help prevent crimes and fight those already existing in this area, rus.err writes. At the moment there are about 400 firms operating in Estonia offering different opportunities in working with cryptocurrencies, and the bitcoin exchange rate is already more than 34 thousand euros.
“In terms of the law, this is still a gray area, as it is only partially regulated. Currently, apart from the issuance of a license by the Money Laundering Data Bureau, there are no more regulations,” says cryptocurrency expert Asse Sauga. Under the adjustment, companies that are engaged in servicing should come under the adjustment. That is, those who offer intermediary services or create wallets virtually. Perhaps this will add clarity to the industry.
