In Latvia, using a drone without registration can result in a fine of up to 2000 euros.
If the drone weighs more than 250 grams or has photo and video capabilities, it must be registered.
How?
On the government electronic services portal e.caa.lv for owners of unmanned aerial vehicles and drones. Documents can be submitted online electronically after logging in to the electronic services portal latvija.lv.
Next, the flying drone receives a registration number — this number must be used to mark the device.
The registration fee is 5 euros. The registration is valid for one year.
The new law came into effect on January 1 of this year.
Fines for operating an unmarked and unregistered flying device are from 50 to 700 euros for individuals, and from 150 to 2000 euros for legal entities.
